Easter events

The castle interiors will be richly decorated with thousands of flowers during the Easter holidays. Only the individual tours will be offered in order to have enough time for this special floristic exhibition. On Holy Saturday, we will continue in the renewed historical tradition of giving of the sweet porridge. The small market with lenten dishes is organized in the third castle courtyard on Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. 

From the Holy Friday, the 3rd April to the Easter Monday, the 6th April, we offer only the individual tours with the texts. Our guides will be present and prepared for the questions but the tempo of the tour is up to the visitors. 

The traditional lenten sweet porridge will be served in the Black kitchen only on Holy Saturday between 10 and 16 o'clock.

It is the fourth year of the renewed historical tradition of giving of the Sweet porridge on Easter holidays. This tradition was founded very probably by the Lady of the castle Maragaret of Hradec (born of Hardegg) round the middle of the 14th century and held form more than four centuries - till the end of 18th century, when this custom was abolished. Margaret was also called the White lady, because she became the member of the Order of saint Clare after the death of her husband and visit her castle always in the order white robe. 

The tradition was, of course, renewed with the necessary attendance of the White lady. You will have the extraordinary opportunity to meet her in the Black kitchen. The chef, cooks and the armed castle guards will help her with the giving of the sweet porridge on the Holy Saturday. 

On Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday, the small lenten market will be organized in the 3rd castle courtyard - coffee, pastry, bread, fish specialities and other meals. 

The opening times are nearly regular on all holidays. Just on Holy Saturday, we won't keep the lunch break.
